WE ARE OFFICIAL!! THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE LOS ANGELES UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT TODAY UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED A FIVE-YEAR TERM FOR CITIZENS OF THE WORLD CHARTER HOLLYWOOD: A PUBLIC SCHOOL! Both Board Member Steve Zimmer and the Executive Director of the Innovation and Charter Schools Division, Parker Hudnut, noted on the record that CWC's charter petition was one of the best they've seen. We are thrilled and so proud of all we have accomplished so far. And now, the real work begins! As you may know, our lottery will be held on Thursday, April 15th at 6:00 p.m. The deadline for applications is APRIL 12, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. If you have not yet submitted your application for Kindergarten or 1st grade 2010, please do so now: citizensoftheworld.org/enrollment. You MUST submit this form even if you are on our "interested parents" list or have signed one of our petitions. We have begun the process of sending out postcards to confirm receipt of your application -- applicants should start receiving them by Monday. Thanks for your patience as we do this -- we've had a lot going on! You will not need to be present at the lottery to receive a spot -- we will notify everyone by mail after the lottery of their status -- but we will announce the specific location shortly for those who would like to attend. Child care will be provided. Also, we will have Parent Info Sessions on Thursday, April 22nd and Saturday, April 24th for admitted parents and those on the wait list who care to attend. Our Founding Principal, Marissa Berman, will be attending these sessions to answer your questions. More details will be provided soon. We know many of you remain anxious about our school location, but please rest assured that we have some highly qualified experts working diligently on this, and we will make an announcement just as soon as we can. There is absolutely NO doubt that our school will, in fact, open in September 2010 with a suitable facility, staff, etc. Thanks for all the support and interest in our incredible school. Just as our petition was cited as "one of the best," we know that CWC will, in fact, be one of the very best schools in Los Angeles.
