***Please note that it is not mandatory to take a tour before requesting an Application.
Step 3: Lottery
Here is how the lottery works:
If the number of students who wish to attend CWC exceeds the school’s capacity, except for the existing students of CWC, enrollment shall be determined by random public drawing (also known as a lottery) in accordance with Education Code §47605(d)(2).
The following (in addition to currently enrolled students) shall be given exemption from the lottery and be granted admission to the school:
- Siblings of students currently enrolled – siblings are defined as any two students who share a legal parent/guardian. (legal documentation is required);
- Children of the founding members of CWC not to exceed 10% of CWC’s enrollment each year.
Please note that if you are extended an offer for enrollment through one of the exemptions or weighted preference above, you will need to provide supporting documentation in the enrollment packet to accept the enrollment offer. A verification of this will be done prior to finalizing your child’s enrollment.
If your child was offered enrollment via an exemption or weighted preference and CWC deems that the child does not qualify, your child will be placed on the waiting list.
Within one week of the lottery, letters will be mailed to those families receiving an offer of a space at CWC. Those families will have approximately 2 weeks to respond and accept or turn down the space offered. Any spaces that become available will be offered to the next family on the waiting list until the class is full. Be advised that the time to respond and accept or turn down a space offered ranges from 2 weeks for the first round of accepted applicants (immediately after the lottery) and reduces to 72 hours for subsequent rounds and then 24 hours when the start of school approaches (after August 1st).
Lottery Date:
The public lottery will take place on Thursday, March 22nd, 2012, at 6:00pm. It will be held in the large auditorium at our school located at 1316 N. Bronson Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90028.
